The M6s have had a few high scoring wins this season but none were quite like this one. Cambridge South were a good side, full of pace and dogged defence. The M6s were just immense though and blew them away in probably their best performance of the season.
Local derbies have a habit of becoming quite vocal but some excellent umpiring meant that it was hockey doing the talking. A big thank you to Hatti and Peter.
Both sides started brightly but City soon started to create chance after chance and were 3-0 up within 15 minutes. Bertie and Maks combined beautifully down the right and with the support of Ali Cotton, Will Earl and Nigel Anns fed Raphael and Ben with a non-stop flow of goal scoring opportunities. South got one back which spurred City on and it was 4-1 at half time.
The second half was much more of the same and City ran out 7-1 winners.
A big thank you to the five members of the squad who played for the Vets and M5s. The Vets picked up a valuable point and Graeme, Stuart and Geoff will be claiming a lot of credit for that.
Three games to go in what has been a great season. March away will be a tricky fixture but if we play like this then anything is possible.
