Recruiting - Men's 2nd XI Coach

Working closely with our 1st XI Head Coach, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, overseeing and delivering a season-long coaching programme for our Men’s 2nd XI, including midweek training and attending Saturday fixtures. This role could potentially be combined with additional roles within the club (either senior or junior).

Cambridge City HC are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, inspiring and skilled coach to join our coaching team and support our Men’s 2nd XI. Cambridge City HC run 13 senior teams, with a thriving youth section, and a history of success within East Anglia. We hold the nationally-recognized, cross-sport, ClubMark status. The Cambridge Talent Academy supports talent development across the region, and we are working towards England Hockey Talent Centre accreditation. The appointment of a 2nd XI coach is a signal that the club is looking to progress and go from strength to strength.

Role: 

Mens 2nd XI Head Coach

Hours:

The 2nd XI train twice a week on a Tuesday and Thursday and play their games on Saturdays. It is expected as a minimum that the coach would lead training on a Thursday evening and attend all team matches on a Saturday (attendance at the other training session on a Tuesday evening would be a 'nice-to-have' but is not essential).

Coaching Rate:

  • To be discussed, dependent on knowledge, experience and linked to coaching qualifications.


Responsibilities:

  • Culture and environment - To develop and drive a high-performance culture in line with the club philosophy.
  • Training – To plan and deliver a season-long coaching programme for the Men’s 2nd XI.
  • Fixtures – To attend all team fixtures (home and away), lead on tactical preparation for games and post-game debriefs.
  • Selection: To lead selection for the Men’s 2nd XI, providing regular feedback to players, and to work closely with other coaches to ensure that weekly selection occurs in a timely manner across all squads within the Men’s section.
  • Talent Pathway Group: To assist with the integration of juniors, as appropriate, into the men’s performance squads and to provide regular feedback regarding the progress of junior players.


Requirements

  • EH Sessional Coach Award / Level 1 qualified (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one ASAP.
  • Valid Safeguarding & Protecting Children certificate (UK Coaching).
  • DBS enhanced check (must be completed before appointment can be confirmed).
  • Valid First Aid qualification.
  • Right to live and work in the UK.
