Player Registration
A player must be registered with their Club in the GMS to play in any England Hockey competitions such as the National Hockey League, Senior Area League, and age group competitions.
(a) New Players: Players who have not played for another club in a League match in England must create a new GMS record and affiliate with their new club. U18s must be registered by a parent. Please make sure to select Cambridge City HC, as there are several clubs with very similar names!
(b) Existing Players: Players with a previous League hockey record must use their existing GMS record, unless: (i) Before playing in their first fixture, the ALMC permits a different registration to be used by the player. (ii) The player turns 18 and creates a new GMS record, merging their old junior record (registered to a parent/guardian) with GMS Support. Any player creating a new record must first apply for membership of the Club they last played outdoor league hockey for before transferring to a new Club.
Player Transfers
These are all done through GMS.
Login > My Clubs > select the 'Request to jon a new club' link below your current clubs list. Follow on screen instructions to request to join Cambridge City HC.
Please make sure to select Cambridge City HC, as there are several clubs with very similar names!
Your old club have 10 days to approve or contest the transfer (for example if there are fees outstanding), after which it will complete automatically if there is no response either way from your releasing club.
To speed along any transfer, please speak to your current club so they are expecting the transfer, ensure you have paid any outstanding fees owed to either CCHC (if leaving) or your releasing club if transferring in, and returned any kit or equipment if requested.
Transfer Window & Registration Deadlines
For the area leagues the registration/transfer window closes on 1 February (8 February for National Legaue).
Players may transfer clubs once in a season. Any additional transfer must be approved by the league.
Late registration requests (not previously registered on GMS with any club) and transfer requests must be approved by the area league before a player is eligible for selection, and players will be limited to playing in teams at Grade 4 & 5. There needs to be a specific reason, usually a significant life or location change.
U18s must be registered by a parent.
Dual Registration - please contact the youth section team.
Umpire Registration
All club umpires officiating in league fixtures need to be registered on GMS as part of the England Hockey Officiating Club (EHO) & need to register with each club that they umpire for (unless they are part of the NPUA or Area Pools).
More information about the EHO and the different categories of membership can be found at https://www.englandhockey.co.uk/deliver/officiate/umpire/eho.
If you are a player who also umpires you will need to register on GMS twice using the same email address - once as a 'Player' and once as 'Officiating'.
Here are some common issues and how to fix them, taken from England Hockey GMS support emails received. If you are still having problems, email gms@cambridgecityhc.org.
Log In Issues
If you are having login issues, please ensure that you are definitely trying to log in via https://gms.englandhockey.co.uk and NOT any whostheumpire bookmarks you may have saved. Also, if you have tried resetting your password, please return to the GMS url (as above) to login and do NOT use the login screen you are immediately presented with having reset your password.
Dealing with Duplicates
If you believe you have registered twice with two different email addresses, please let GMS (gms.support@englandhockey.co.uk) know which one you would like to keep, and they can now merge all accounts (and history) into the one you wish to keep.
Unable to 'Proceed' at first screen
If the 'Proceed' button on the first screen does not go live despite completing your email details, it may be because your email was 'autofilled' and GMS does not then recognise the field has completed. To correct, re-enter your email manually or click in the email box to set it live.
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
