U18 Girls vs St Albans

Goal Scorers - Amelia Sangster, Meg Howlett + May Busher *2, POM - Charlotte Rye, DOD - Meg Howlett, Match Report - Katie Paterson (with team input)

1st game of the season and some logistics to resolve – late arrivals, Lexi in the wrong changing room with the shirts which resulted in a minimal warmup before the first pushback (or push off according to Rod). Sadly, due to Kate’s flipped coin picking skills they had first pushback, but possession was quickly gained, and the attacks began.

The first goal came after Amelia tapped the ball in after a cracking strike from May’s PC. Heads up, the girls kept the passes slick and speedy and the second goal came through Amelia to May. St Albans started to put the pressure on and gained a goal, but we didn’t cower. The girls finished the half 3-1 with the final goal being scored by Meg - an absolute wonder goal from a tomahawk over the goalie.

The second half provided many challenges with St Albans scoring shortly after the whistle with a bit of a scrappy goal in the bottom right corner. We persisted and overcame challenges which subsequently saw 3 players sent off ! City pulled through with a final goal with a straight strike at a short corner from May. The final score lies at 4-1!!! Cannot wait to see what the girls have in store for their next plate match.

Coach Rod’s match summary….” We were, at times, exceptional - when we passed hard and early. When we remember to get forward earlier and get more width, we’ll be even more exceptional!

Great play by all!
