U14 Boys Crowned National Supra League Champions

Cambridge City U14 Boys produced a fantastic team performance on Sunday to be crowned national Supra League champions. The squad showed skill, character and togetherness throughout the day, earning a memorable title for the club.

The boys navigated a very tough group, topping a pool that included Chester, Isca and Wimbledon – last year’s champions. Coming out on top against such high‑quality opposition, including an excellent Wimbledon side, gave the team huge confidence. Oli T's vital equaliser against Chester and a late penalty corner goal from Hugo against Isca were huge moments in the group, and together with Toby’s two superb goals against Wimbledon earned Cambridge City the group win, and helped them build real momentum going into the final stages.

In the showpiece final, Cambridge City faced a strong Repton team who provided a real challenge from the first whistle to the last. The game was fiercely contested, with both sides creating chances and defending superbly. Ollie D-G produced a crucial match‑saving moment, clearing a goal‑bound effort off the line in the second half to keep Cambridge City level, showing outstanding focus and bravery as a defender. Neither team could find a breakthrough in normal time, and the final was decided by a shoot‑out.

Zak in goal was the hero of the shoot‑out, producing three outstanding saves from three Repton attempts. His composure under pressure and brilliant reactions gave the team the platform they needed to secure the title, with the Cambridge takers holding their nerve superbly to convert their attempts. Joe lifted the trophy for the team and, together with Oli T. and Zak, shared the captaincy role and provided great leadership throughout the day.

Across all the matches, the defensive unit of Ollie D-G, Oli T., Archie, Hugo and David was outstanding. Their organisation, tackling and work rate underpinned the team’s performances throughout the day.

The midfield group of Joe, Oliver L., George, Luca and William worked tirelessly between both circles, breaking up play, linking defence to attack and keeping the ball moving with calm passing.

Up front, Thomas, Ethan, Lawrence, Fred and Toby stretched opposition defences all day with their leads, pressing and goal threat, ensuring Cambridge City were always dangerous in attack.

Every player contributed to the success – from tireless running and disciplined defending to calm passing and clinical finishing. It was also very much a squad achievement: Henry and Beau were unable to attend the finals in Nottingham, but had played important roles in helping the team qualify for this national event.

The boys represented Cambridge City with pride, playing the game in the right spirit and supporting each other throughout the day. Huge thanks to coaches Paul and Wayne for their guidance and support, and to manager Ansa for keeping everything running smoothly. This is a great achievement for the boys and a proud moment for the whole club, shared with all the parents and supporters who backed them throughout the season.
