W4 vs Bourne Deeping 1

The Ladies 4s travelled out to Peterborough this week to face Bourne Deeping. It was a shaky start with Deeping being given a few opportunities and early chances. City had a few break away chances but took time to settle in and get used to their new surroundings!

At one point it seemed that City would go behind, when a huge deflection from a big hit from Deeping went into the net. However, after some concerned shouts from guest coach Felix, and polite questions to the umpires from Dickers, the umpires quickly reviewed the goal and decided it was struck outside the D and deflected by City! No goal! Then to increase the pressure, a crazy shot was stopped by Dickers on the line - by her foot. A stroke was awarded but Naomi stepped exactly right, and easily saved it.

City stepped it up and the intensity increased. Some great passing between the forwards led to a goal by Abbey. A following short corner led to ANOTHER stroke. Dickers valiantly stepped up and took it brilliantly. 2-1!

The second half continued with an ongoing battle. Another short corner and back and forth, in and out of the D, and Xanthe snuck the ball in at the post making it 3-1. Deeping were not giving up though. They continued to fight and managed to score another goal. City just needed to hold on. And hold on they did!

Final score was 3-2!
