M6 vs City of Peterborough 6

Goalscorers: Bill Davidson, Ben J x 2, Nigel Anns, Stuart Perry

Bill and Ben the three goal men - A bright and sunny early morning in Peterborough saw the Men’s 6th enact their youth policy by having a bench with an average age of 68. Early control of the game led to growing confidence until an excellent pass and searing run resulted in the opposition going 1-0 up. Undeterred City immediately hit back. A powerful injection into the D from the well dressed Gadsby was deflected (Peterborough asked for a referral to snicko) by the ever so honest Bill Davidson to bring the scores level. Soon after a follow up at a short corner led to the second goal and a Bill/Ben scoresheet. Oh how the subs chuckled.

City continued to challenge, in particular through excellent play down the right hand side until a foul just in the 22 led to a moment of poor defensive concentration. The wily Nigel Anns embarked on his longest run of the day and having reached 5m nipped into the D and rolled the ball home. Half-time 3-1.

The second half saw City continue to press with the opportunity for Geoff to undertake a full length dive and the revelation that Stuart Perry could go into the D at a short corner. The first remains an opportunity, perhaps best served on a Friday morning, and the second resulted in City’s fourth. Soon after Ben picked the ball up and slotted home his second and the subs took to the pitch in full to calm the excitement and ensure an excellent 5-1 win.
