M3 vs Dereham 1

M3 vs Dereham 1

First league game of the season and it’s away to the recently relegated Prem Men’s 1st team of Dereham for an earlish start.

A much changed team (from last season) featuring some new youth and some familiar faces arrived promptly (apart from our new skipper who was 20 mins late)

City started brightly although retaining the ball proved tricky which led to Dereham easing themselves in to the game and scoring a couple of goals shortly after the opening 10 mins.

City found some form and saw some D penetration and a resulting defensive foot on the line, advantage seemingly played and the ball in the net resulted in an award of a penalty corner. Having failed to covert the penalty corner, Dereham pushed on to a 4-0 lead at half time.

The rallying cry at halt time was to play with confidence and compete more in all aspects of the game.

The second half was much more competitive with City having more ball, less errors and playing higher up the pitch

After a bright passage of play on the left hand side, a quick taken hit to AJ, a pass to the dominant Jerms saw a ball crossed to Rupert on the back post who slotted home magnificently

Dereham however controlled play and also managed a couple more goals

Moments of the game

Will Chappel pretending to be bambi on ice.

Jerms receiving a card for talking to himself which the umpire assumed was directed to them

Barney assisting Dereham by slotting home a ball that was going wide nicely into our net

MOM: Barney for a solid game in defence

DOD: Jerms for the afore mentioned green card
