Welcome to Wilberforce Road Sports Ground, home of Cambridge City Hockey Club.
The last few years have been difficult for many of us, but at CCHC, we have been focusing on helping people get back onto the pitch. That has included organising a number of summer leagues with other local clubs, developing our Youth Section (now well over 400 members between the ages of 4 and 18) and promoting Back-to-Hockey, Walking Hockey and Flyerz. It is fantastic to see so many people playing hockey again!
We are pleased to welcome back two former players this week: Fran Ralston-Bown (who seems to have been away for all of 5 minutes) and Hannah De Selincourt, although we would have preferred to see them in red and navy rather than white and black!
Both teams would have wanted to get off to better starts last week. City lost 4-1 away to Canterbury and Magpies were on the wrong end of a 2-0 score line in Slough. These local rivals played out two draws last season, one a 6 goal thriller and the other a tense 0-0, so we could be in for a very close and exciting match.
