Hockey in Year 12 & 13

For Year 12 & 13 players (U18 age group) regular training is delivered as part of senior training with lots of opportunity for competitive hockey with our Saturday senior league sides.

In addition we enter the England Hockey T1 Club Champs & indoor Super6s (see U18 Competitions Tab). Extra U18 sessions may be arranged as preparation closer to each event.

If you are new to Senior Hockey, training runs throughout the week on weekday evenings - the evening(s) you train depend on the team squad you are a part of. Your training sessions should now be in your calendar in Teamo. In general. if you are new to senior hockey you will start in one of our club training sessions & you will be given a starting match day squad, but there is plenty of opportunity to progress over the season.

Matches are played on Saturday mornings and afternoons. Home matches are at Wilberforce Road. For our performance squads (our 1st and 2nd teams), away matches could be anywhere in the East (or Midlands for the W1s), but for most, opposition teams tend to be in the ‘North West’ quadrant of the East League. To give parents a flavour of away trips, these include the 4 other Cambridge based clubs (home from home), Peterborough, Ely, St Neots, Newmarket, March, Wisbech, Pelicans (King’s Lynn), Long Sutton, Bourne Deeping, St Ives, Huntingdon & Northstowe, Spalding, & Kettering.

We run 7 women's and 5 men's teams offering a fantastic range of hockey for all abilities from National League (W1) and down through the East Area Leagues.

Lots more general information can be found in our player information booklet:

If you haven't already renewed your membership, please can you let us know your plans either way.

Any questions, reach out & get in touch.

Competitions & Dates

PLEASE PUT THESE DATES IN YOUR DIARY

All dates shown are from the central calendar. Competitions should adhere to these dates, but in our experience, things can change despite this, especially the dates for the Super6s East Area round. Unfortunately this is out of our control.

U18 Club Championships:

Teams will automatically enter the Plate competition if they lose their first round match, so we will have at least 2 matches:

  • Round 1: 11 October 2026
  • Round 2: 25 November 2026
  • Round 3: 17 January 20257

EH Super6s Indoor Championships

Indoor training prep will be on Wednesday evenings at the Perse Sports Hall - dates TBC closer to the time

  • County Round: If required - TBC
  • U18 Girls East Area Round: 29 November 2026 or 06 December 2026
  • U18 Boys East Area Round: 29 November 2026 or 06 December 2026
  • National Finals (Area winners qualify): 24 January 2027

Indoor Hockey UK 2026 Championship

This is super fun and excellent preparation for the EH Super6s National Finals should teams qualify from the East Area round. It usually runs between Xmas & New Year (27-30 December). Last year's event was in Nottingham, and previous venues include the Derby Arena & The Copperbox.

Entry will be subject to player appetite!

  • U18 Girls: TBC
  • U18 Boys: TNC

* timings subject to change

Senior Playing Kit

Young players will need a senior club playing shirt which is available to buy through the Y1 CCHC Club Shop. General information about club kit can be found on our website here.

Young players will also need a club playing number to order their shirt. Please email kit@cambridgecityhc.org to obtain a club number for your young person if they do not already have one. Please include your child’s name, sex, and the senior team they currently play for.

GMS (Game Management System)

For England hockey league & cup fixtures we now need to submit all our information including team sheets online. This means as a one off, all our players need to register on GMS (Game Management System) which is the England Hockey fixture and results system, so they are eligible to play. Please can you take a few seconds to read the info below and action as appropriate.

If you are an existing CCHC player who has represented the club in either age group or senior league hockey, and CCHC is your ONLY club, you should already be registered & do not need to take any further action. Players only need to register with their current club once.

Transferring to Cambridge City HC

If you are moving from another club to play for Cambridge City HC you will also need to transfer on the GMS. Please read to the bottom of this section before trying to start a transfer.

Log into your Parent GMS account > My Clubs > Request to join a new club > select which person on their profile is wanting to transfer (parent or child)

  • In the Pop Up Box > Which club would you like to join? > Choose Cambridge City HC from the dropdown
  • In the Pop Up Box > Where it says 'Will you be leaving any of your current clubs' > make sure they are ticked.

Please ensure you have paid all outstanding fees owed to your previous club, and returned any borrowed kit - this should make the process go quicker. The releasing club do have 10 days to either approve or contest the transfer, but after that it will complete automatically if no action taken.

IS YOUR CHILD:

1/ Already dual registered with Cambridge City HC as they played junior hockey for CCHC but senior hockey for another club

or

2/ Moving to Cambridge City HC BUT someone linked to your main parent account (you, another child) is already a member of Cambridge City HC

PLEASE CONTACT US VIA THE CONTACT CARD BELOW

  • In both these situations Cambridge City HC will not show as a transfer option, so the transfer will need to be completed through GMS support with permission received from the releasing club.

My Child is not already on GMS - How to Register

Your young person may not be registered with GMS already. For example, they have never played club hockey before, or they are moving into our senior sides from our Tuesday Outreach group.

A) If you already have a GMS account as a parent (another child with CCHC or another club) or as a player then please login to your existing account, open ‘My Profile’, and in the ‘Relations’ tab there is the option to ‘Add Dependent’. It will also list any children already registered.

Otherwise:

B) Please can you register on GMS using the following link: https://gms.englandhockey.co.uk/

  • Select the Parent/Guardian option, fill in your email, and you should then receive a verification code (can take a few minutes!)
  • You complete your details first to create a parent account.
  • The club will ‘approve’ you and you can then add your young person(s) as a dependent.
  • Please be sure to select Cambridge City HC from the 'clubs' dropdown box (there are a number of similar Cambridge clubs).

Any problems, please contact us via the contact card below:

Key Contacts

You can always message key team contacts by DM through the Teamo App. Open the ‘Club’ section of the App (bottom menu bar on a mobile device). You will see your young person’s teams listed under the ‘Teams’ section at the bottom. Open the relevant team page.

All key contacts are listed in the ‘Messaging’ tab, including all current senior captains and the men’s and women’s club captains, Phil Robinson and Hannah Vernon-Browne (who is moving in to the role this season in place of Chanre).

The contact details for all captains and coaches can also be found on our website in the Contacts section and in the individual senior team pages.

Key Coaching Contacts - Men

Phil Robinson is our Men's Club Captain, and the best initial point of contact if you have any questions about training, your match day squad etc.

Key Coaching Contacts - Women

Hannah Vernon-Browne is our incoming Women's Club Captain, and the best initial point of contact if you have any questions about training, your match day squad etc.
