Our youth section is embedded in a club that caters for and supports the ambition of all players of all standards. Whether your ambition is to play for GB or you’re picking up a stick for the first time with friends, there’s no better place for young players to develop their game and have a great time doing it. Central to our philosophy is that sport should be fun, with coaching and player development built around the aspirations, needs and performance of the player.
We provide a managed pathway from 5-18 and into senior hockey. Whilst proud of our youth teams’ strong performances in competition, our aim is for every player to end the season better than when they started, playing to their desired potential and, most of all, to have had fun along the way as members of a thriving and inclusive hockey club. We enter teams into national, area and local competitions for performance and developing players, for both outdoor and indoor hockey. Details can be found in the Junior Competitions page. For the 21/22 season, we entered 18 teams of all standards into England Hockey national and area competitions.
We have a strong performance culture too for those who aspire to the highest level and have a strong cohort of players selected for England Hockey regional and national level squads, as well as juniors in our senior first teams.
Youth annual subscription costs for 2026-2027 were agreed by the membership at the AGM.
There is a tiered approach to membership fees to reflect the age, number of hours and level of coaching offered.
Full information on our junior membership types and costs can be found HERE
As a club, we would never want financial reasons to mean that anyone was unable to join our community or play the sport that we all love, and we are aware that costs mount quickly, especially when you have more than one young person playing.
If you feel cost might stop your young person playing, please talk to us as we want to help, and there is a Bursary Policy in place to support players in this position (please see the 'Our Fees Explained' tab for more information about eligibility and how to apply).
If you wish to discuss the support available, have any other queries about our subscriptions or match fees, or wish to pay membership fees by instalments, please contact our Treasurer, Stephen Mulligan, via the contact form below.
As a club, we want to keep costs down for parents. Therefore, we have tried to keep mandatory kit to a minimum on the junior side & provide the numbered shirts for our fixtures.
The Club has adopted England Hockey Safeguarding Policies and is committed to ensuring CCHC is a safe and enjoyable environment to play hockey - for all ages and abilities.
All our volunteers & coaches are DBS checked, and have undergone the appropriate level of safeguarding training.
Our safeguarding policies, together with our 'Youth Section Handbook' which sets out all our policies, principles and information, can be found here:
