This is a big couple of weeks for our women's 1s as we near the end of the season. Today’s game is our final home game for them before they travel to Barnes next week.

Last weekend our women hosted Wimbledon 2nd XI and won 4-2 in a terrific display. The squad have steadily improved as the season went on and we are all behind you as you enter these final two games. Across the park we've got some fantastic players we can all be proud of. Players such as Hannah, who shows such composure on the ball, Kat and Em who are so decisive up top, Miriam with her fancy footwork and Charlotte and Griff at the back who exhibit such discipline. I could go on but you'd be here all day.

Last weekend also saw our women’s 2nd XI host St Albans 2s on Sunday in front of a reasonable crowd. As the skies cleared the goals rained down! Emma was a force of nature, setting up four and scoring one herself. Both Millie and Rosie stepped up and played so well too. It's always a pleasure to see the 2s play, they are an effervescent squad who deliver athletic, entertaining hockey. If you get the chance to see them please do take it!

Mid-week our Men’s 1s hosted Belper under the lights. My thanks to Guinness and to Jo at England Hockey in their support in finally getting this game played after about eight different dates were proposed! When it came to the game finally happening, I am pleased to say the team delivered. Conor Annand bagged four, and even had time for a sit down on the naughty step! Tom Robson burgled a goal on the far post after a great cross from Ollie Harper. A 5-2 win was much needed after some tough results for us, but it was a pleasure to watch some great hockey. Big thanks to all who supported, always nice to have a big crowd at the Vicki Franks 'Stan'd!

Our umpires today are Jane Hallett and Nikki Butcher, our Match Official is Yvonne McCartney. This is Yvonne's second trip to us in a matter of days, she just can't get enough of us! I hope that your voice has recovered but I am sure the teams will both behave and you won't need to use it much! Thank you for taking the time to ensure we can play, we do really appreciate it.
