Changes at the AGM

Following the AGM there is a fair bit of news to share! After eight years three of our committee are stepping away, and after 11 another is stepping down!

Firstly we want to thank our former Chair Mark Brooke’s who is stepping down after eight years at the helm. Mark’s time included overseeing the very difficult COVID period and a significant change in circumstances for our clubhouse arrangements. Mark has spent over 30 years supporting the club in a range of roles and will continue to be present pitchside and on the pitch with a whistle going forward. A huge thanks to Mark for all his efforts and time. In recognition of his service the club voted to award him Lifetime Membership.

Also stepping down is Caroline Fletcher, who has also served for eight years, as secretary. Caroline can always be relied upon for a bright and bubbly contribution to the meetings and wanting to do the best to support our club.

Chanré has decided to step away from her role as Women’s Club Captain, having also served for eight year. This period has seen huge progress for the women’s teams with our 1s maintaining national league status and our 2s and 3s routinely doing battle for East Prem honours. The 4s, 5s, 6s and 7s have also all enjoyed promotions and team stability.

Finally after 11 years Tim is stepping down as ULO. He is rightly proud of the progress made, where we have produced five national league umpires in the last four years, as well as a large number of Level 2 and 1 umpires. His work with the brilliant Rob Lewis has helped to deliver this. He has also seen greater diversity in our umpire ranks with more women involved than ever before and umpires aged 14 to 90! Another proud achievement has been regularly supporting other clubs with umpires, this past season seeing us provide umpires for at least one game hosted by every club in cambridge!
