The CCHC Community Lottery Opens on 1 September

£5 a month, three prizes in every draw, and the rest goes into running the club.

From 1 September, you can join the CCHC Community Lottery. It's a monthly draw run by Cambridge City Hockey Club. Each entry costs £5, three prizes are drawn every month, and the money that isn't paid out in prizes goes into running the club.

How the prizes work

Every entry goes into that month's draw. You can hold as many entries as you like, and each one stands exactly the same chance as any other — so if two of your numbers come up, you win twice.

Three prizes are drawn each month, and each is a share of that month's pot:

  • 1st prize — 20% of the pot
  • 2nd prize — 10% of the pot
  • 3rd prize — 5% of the pot

That's 35% of everything paid in, going back out in prizes.

Because each prize is a share of the pot rather than a fixed amount, we can't tell you in advance what a month's prize will be. It depends on how many entries there are that month.

Where the other 65% goes

Into running Cambridge City Hockey Club, once the Lottery's own costs are covered — its annual registration fee to Cambridge City Council, and the random number service that draws the numbers.

The club's largest recurring costs are pitch hire, coaching across the senior and junior squads, and the league entry and affiliation fees payable for every team and every registered player.

The dates

Entries open 1 September 2026. The first draw is on Saturday 3 October, for entries received during September. After that the draw is normally on the first Saturday of each month.

Before you sign up

A few things worth knowing first:

  • You need to be 18 or over. That's Cambridge City Hockey Club's own rule.
  • Payment is by standing order (our preference) or a one-off BACS transfer. We can't take cash, cheques, cards or PayPal.
  • If fewer than three entries are received in a month, there's no draw that month — three is the fewest a three-prize draw can work with. Your entry isn't lost: it carries into the next month's draw automatically, at no extra cost. If it ever carries for three months running, you can ask for it back.
  • Winning numbers are published on the club website. A winner's name appears only if that winner has agreed to it.
  • You don't have to be a club member. The Lottery is open to families, supporters, and anyone who wants to back the club.
