Nottingham Trent University (NTU)

Following a very successful BUCS campaign during this last season, with the Men’s and Women’s 1st XIs finishing 3rd and 7th respectively in the Premier Leagues and both having very positive Cup runs (Semi Final and Final), we are now continuing to look at recruitment for the 2025 age groups and beyond. It is our aim to offer weekend National League hockey for this cohort of potential students, and therefore continuing to offer high quality competition across both weekday and weekend programmes.

I am keen to support applications from your young athletes who have a desire to study the various Higher Education courses on offer at NTU, whilst also looking to compete and develop at the highest level of Performance Hockey for University Sport; BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) Premier League, for both men and women.

If I can support any of your pupils through their UCAS application, or they would like to discuss the opportunities that the University has on offer directly with me, then I would welcome the opportunity to invite them to either an Open Day or Independent visit to the Hockey Programme during this academic year. I have listed the Open Day dates at the bottom of this email and ask that you share this with any student looking at NTU as an option for study.

Further Information:

We currently have six men’s and six women’s BUCS teams who play on Wednesdays at differing levels. Both our 1st XI are currently playing in the BUCS National Premier Leagues, the top league in the UK, and the rest of our student teams have gained various promotions in recent years to now compete at the higher ends of the league structure. We also have four men’s and four women’s weekend teams who play on a Saturday at a competitive level throughout Midlands Leagues, with the clear objective of gaining promotion and representing the University in the England Hockey National League structure.

We have several Open Days available for any potential students to visit the University and discuss study options. They are all on Saturdays and run from 9.30am until 3pm. The dates are listed below, and more information can be found at the University website; click here for direct link.

·     October 12th 2024

·     November 30th 2024

·     January 18th 2025

After initial contact, we can also offer open invites to Performance Squad training sessions throughout the season, for any player who is representing their school or club in National Hockey Competitions. To access this option, we ask that families contact Jack directly through email to arrange a suitable date.
